I chose this short piece for the awkward grace with which it staggers between warm poetry and cold observation; it's a theoretical exploration of where our constituent matter might go - and where it might return to once again - after we die. I discovered it through my friend Cam, who read it aloud as the final coda one year for an annual videogame livestream charity fundraiser. It's a strangely comforting metaphysical meditation on death that won't keep you awake at night.
Faye Havoc has been raising a ruckus on burlesque stages since 2013. She was once described (by someone who couldn't quite remember her stage name) as "tall blonde chaos" and no one can really argue with that. Faye delights in baring their wits and wiles, often creating acts that comment on the art and structure of the strip, satirizing burlesque itself and challenging the audience's preconceptions of what it is - or isn't. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival, she is also a member of the Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society, and a full-time costumer to her performance community. Faye is one half of the only pantomime horse to ever have won a title at the Burlesque Hall of Fame weekend in Las Vegas.
