I chose Wuthering Heights because, firstly I love the classics, secondly that dialogue driven books are a fun read, and thirdly because of the content in this particular passage. The younger woman, Catherine, has put herself in the cage of societies expectations, standing and physical comfort in lieu of a connection on a higher level. She believes security and admiration are love, when really these aspects can have absolutely nothing to do with it. Her slightly elder cohort and servant, Nelly is aware of this and makes an attempt to help Catherine see the partnership in the long-term. I believe this is a timeless lesson and unfortunately a difficult one to learn because what is love but complacence and comfort until it is truly felt at the level of the soul?
