What struck me about this ghost story, was whether the author intended it or not, my sympathies lie with the ghost. The ending, which I assume was supposed to be a triumph of creative genius, instead feels tragic and cruel. I doubt that my feelings toward this piece were intended and then I ask myself, who was this ghost story written for? Not I, is the answer. So why did I decide to read it and share it with all of you? What a magnificent question. I'd love to answer it for you, I really would. Except, I don't know. I think my desire to share this story with you is to give you a likely unconventional reading of this story where I bring the humanity of the ghost to the forefront. I don't want to ruin the ending for you, but know that I never saw this a triumph, but a tragedy. I've lots of other thoughts but they're all spoilers. So I invite you to listen to this story and decide for yourself what the ending is.
